You don’t often associate fashion labels with making innovative political statements, but that is exactly what Australian label Tsubi (also trading as Ksubi) have done. Travelling throughout the US with a giant sculpture of a suited hand making the peace sign but with two of the fingers cut off, Ksubi documented its journey with some wonderful photography and also filmed the excursion. To share its experiences it will shortly be releasing a 120-page art book on the project and March/April will see an exhibition of this endeavour open simultaneously in Sydney and New York. There is a replica of the statue available for viewing in the Melbourne Ksubi store, ‘The Bombed Mache’. This shop itself is unique in that it is made from recycled material such as cardboard.

Joko Anwar did it again (hopefully!), after the big success of Janji Joni, he's back with his 2nd movie called KALA: Dead Time. I must say that the trailer looks very promising and Sinema-Indonesia who is popular with their cynical review give KALA a two thumbs up and 4.5 star (out of 5). Again judging from the trailer, the colour, the sinematogrphy and so on is way beyond indonesian sinema standart. Jakarta Post said:
"Ground-breaking, intelligent and stylish mix of suspense, mythology and political allegory. Visual triumph mixed with allegorical brilliance! A film of historical significance, a meaningful contribution to Indonesian cinema! " Story: A nameless country is in a state of chaos as natural disasters, corruption, and street justice rise. Part of the people grow more violent, the other part hope for the arrival of a promised leader. A cop named Eros is investigating the case of five men who were burnt to death by mob after somebody screamed "thief" at them. A journalist named Janus is also covering the story. The two are quickly drawn into a labyrinth of mysteries and murders. Janus accidentally discovers a secret. But everyone he tells the secret to soon finds a terrible death. When Eros also finds out of it, they both know that one of them has to die, unless they can find the promised leader before the angel of death arrives.
Lets hope the movie turn out good like those reviewers said. And if this movie can manage to level up with its forerunner Janji Joni, Joko Anwar can be our national treasure for sure...

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo took the responsibility for continuing the success of Danny Boyle with the sequel of 28 Days Later, 28 Week Later. The film took place 28 weeks later after the virus had been spread across U.K. and the military is taking over to start new population. The story didn’t stop there, the horror start when the virus found its way into the ‘save zone’. Filmed with dark moody feels (like most of UK movies nowadays – see Children of Men), 28 Week Later brings you a new genre of zombie movie and new type of British film characteristic.
