625 Process Journal

Its been a good month (not from my assignment point of view though) since I found another good magazine. Process Journal is a new magazine (even though they claimed that its not a magazine nor a book) designed and published by Melbourne based Hunt Studio. Showcasing the best of local Australian designs and also international. One of my fave studio is featured in the magazine, Heydays. Quarterly released and cost AU$25.

Sometimes wen can find a treasure in this online world. Soko Zine (I kinda see it as a magazine actually), is an Argentinian online publication, a project by boutique studio Pogo. Rarely I see an online magazine/zine with attention to detail for the layout and fashion spreads. Nice typos here and there also make this publication worth to enjoy every page. They just launched their 4th issue, and last February they launched Soko’s 2010 calendar.

Check all the issues here.

596 Finders Keepers 2010

586 Dreamers & Believers

Two of my best friends just launched their 2nd collection for their art-collective jewellery line. While their 1st collection was heavily inspired by Alice In Wonderland and the Mat Hatters Tea Party, their second one is more South American-ish. Inspired by Peruvian plait and Navajo tribe arts, for the new collection they started to introduce more material, such as the wooden ring. There’s no official look book yet, but you can check the collection from their Etsy page. And check regularly their tumblr for updates.

574 Flashback: Retro Design in Contemporary Graphics

First time I saw this book in Melbourne, I just want to buy it straight away. But since I dont want to add more weight to my bag pack, and having thought that book stores in Sydney would have it was just a big mistake. Well, Published Art in Surry Hills got it but its $30 dollar more expensive from some reason. Kinokuniya in city for some reason just sent an order form to the publisher and will be available around June ?!? But thankfully, a friend had plan to visit Melbourne over the weekend. The Geometry section is truly inspirational, familiar names are featured in the book, such as Mario Hugo, iLL Studio, Emily Forgot, Playful etc. A really recommended design book !!

481 Self Promo

Bought the new issue of IDN couple days ago and its all about self promotion. Quite like this particular self promo stuff by Michael Fryers, a fold out poster. Kinda remind me of Effektive fold out portfolio.
